Hamilton, New Zealand
Hamilton, New Zealand, is a college town near the northern tip of New Zealand.
It spans the Waikato River, once the home of the Māori, With a current population of about 150,000, it is one of New Zealand’s fastest growing urban areas.
It was once an agricultural hub, but more recently is attracting science-oriented businesses. Its population includes 40,000 tertiary (college) students and 1000 PhD scientists.
Fast growth is challenging city planners to keep up road infrastructure and prevent urban sprawl—the same challenges faced by many American cities.
By all appearances, Hamilton is a beautiful town.
